The Federal Republic of Nigeria has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the country’s history.

In a statement signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria’s Honourable Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, conveyed best wishes to His Excellency Simeón Oyono Esono Angue, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Diaspora of Equatorial Guinea. The congratulatory message highlighted the shared values and recognized the resilience, unity, and progress of Equatorial Guinea’s people.

“On this momentous occasion, Nigeria joins the Republic of Equatorial Guinea in celebrating the remarkable strides made toward national development and stability,” said Ambassador Tuggar in the statement. “Equatorial Guinea’s unwavering commitment to its growth serves as an inspiration not only to the Central African region but to the entire continent.”

The longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, which is founded on geographical proximity and mutual cooperation, continues to thrive. Both nations have collaborated extensively across various sectors such as energy, maritime security, trade, education, and regional integration.

The statement also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to further deepening bilateral cooperation with Equatorial Guinea through regional and continental platforms like the Gulf of Guinea Commission and the African Union.

“Nigeria remains dedicated to fostering these strong ties, which are essential for the stability and prosperity of the Gulf of Guinea and the African continent,” the statement concluded.

Equatorial Guinea, which gained independence from Spain in 1968, remained a key partner in Africa’s pursuit of peace, security, and economic development. Nigeria’s continued support for its neighbor is expected to further strengthen efforts toward regional security and sustainable growth.
