The Nigeria Police Force has announced the suspension of the enforcement of vehicle tinted glass permits after receiving a court order halting the exercise.
Spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed during an interview on AIT that the police have officially received the court directive and have accordingly put the enforcement on hold.
“The order has been received and the enforcement of the tinted permit is now on hold pending the court’s verdict,” Adeh stated.
The suspension will remain in effect until the ongoing legal proceedings are concluded. SP Adeh emphasized that the police respect the judicial process and will continue to await the court’s decision.
Addressing public concerns about the tinted glass regulation, Adeh explained that the policy was introduced primarily for security reasons. “Some criminals were using tinted vehicles to commit offences, making it difficult for law enforcement to identify suspects,” she noted.
She also dispelled rumors that the policy was designed as a revenue source for the police, clarified that all payments for tinted permits are deposited directly into the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA).
The Nigeria Police Force reassured the public that the suspension is temporary and aligned with the judicial process, underscoring their commitment to law enforcement and public safety.
