Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, on Saturday, 3 January 2026, scored another operational success following coordinated patrols and ambushes in Kabba Bunu and Yagba West Local Government Areas.
Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade, said troops, acted on credible intelligence of bandits moving from Adankolo towards Agbadu Bunu in Kabba Bunu, swiftly deployed and laid an ambush at a suspected crossing point. The bandits ran into the ambush, resulting in the neutralization of two and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle.
Further intelligence revealed bandit activity around Saminaka village in Yagba West LGA. Troops, alongside local vigilantes, patrolled the village and nearby forests. The village was deserted, prompting troops to explore surrounding routes leading to Saminaka–Sabo Rijiya road, where they engaged additional bandits.
During the operation, a suspected bandit logistics supplier, Sunday Adedotun of Odo Eri village, was arrested on a Saminaka farmland. He claimed to be helping farmers transport produce. Items recovered included cartons of energy and soft drinks, bottled water, and harvested farm produce. He is currently in custody for investigation.
Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, Commander of 12 Brigade, commended the troops for their professionalism and timely response. He assured the public that the Nigerian Army will continue aggressive patrols, ambushes, and intelligence-driven operations to deny criminals freedom of movement in the area.
