The Nigerian Navy has demonstrated its commitment to personnel welfare with the donation of a fully completed two-bedroom apartment to the family of a fallen serviceman, Late Leading Marine Engineer Aminu A.
The gesture, described as part of the Navy’s institutionalised welfare framework, honours the sacrifice of the officer who died in the line of duty during Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Zamfara State.
Representing the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, at the handover ceremony, the Director of Veteran Affairs, Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Raheem Taofeek, said the initiative underscores the Service’s enduring support for families of deceased personnel. He noted that while no gesture can replace the loss of a loved one, such interventions serve as lasting symbols of honour, sacrifice, and national gratitude.
According to him, the housing donation aligns with the vision of the Chief of the Naval Staff to build a professionally competent, welfare-driven, and people-centric Navy.
The Navy leadership further reiterated its resolve to prioritise personnel welfare through robust support systems aimed at boosting morale and enhancing operational effectiveness. It stressed that maintaining a motivated and resilient force remained critical to addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges, particularly in safeguarding the nation’s maritime domain.
In his remarks, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Navy Holdings Limited, Rear Admiral Hamza Ibrahim represented by the Executive Director Administration, Rear Admiral P.K. Zakaria commended the collaborative efforts that ensured the timely completion of the project.
He highlighted the roles played by Navy Holdings Limited and the Naval Building and Construction Company Limited, noting that their contributions were instrumental to the successful delivery of the welfare initiative.
The Nigerian Navy reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to defending the country’s territorial integrity, while upholding high standards of care, responsibility, and honour for its personnel and their families.
