The Nigerian Navy has recorded a major milestone in healthcare delivery as the laboratories of its reference hospitals in Ojo and Calabar secured national ISO accreditation, reinforcing the Service’s commitment to quality medical services.
The accreditation was granted by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) following a rigorous assessment that confirmed both facilities’ compliance with stringent management and technical requirements of international standards for medical laboratories.
According to a statement issued by the Navy, the achievement highlighted the capability and professionalism of its medical laboratories in delivering accurate, reliable, and quality diagnostic services aligned with global best practices. The accreditation covered the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospitals (NNRH) located in Ojo, Lagos State, and Calabar, Cross River State.
The Service noted that the recognition reflects sustained investment in healthcare infrastructure, quality assurance systems, and human capacity development aimed at improving personnel welfare and enhancing operational effectiveness.
In line with MLSCN policy, a formal accreditation ceremony was held on February 17, 2026, at the Council’s Golden Arena headquarters in Abuja, where representatives of the Nigerian Navy received the certificates on behalf of the Service.
The Navy described the development as a significant step toward strengthening military medical services and contributing to improved healthcare standards within Nigeria’s broader health sector.
