The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has successfully cleared all outstanding payments owed to its Front-End Partners (FEPs) involved in the National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment process. The payments, which covered all enrollments that successfully generated NINs, were cleared after a revalidation exercise to ensure adherence to international standards and compliance.
The FEPs, contracted in 2021 to scale up the NIN enrollment, were only compensated for one year of their services. However, under the leadership of Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, NIMC’s Director General/CEO, the commission has now resolved the payment backlog.
The initiative was supported by the World Bank and the Identity for Development (ID4D) project, which helped facilitate the process.
In the statement, Engr. Coker-Odusote expressed her gratitude to the FEPs and NIMC stakeholders for their support in populating the National Identity Database (NIDB). She reaffirmed NIMC’s commitment to maintaining a credible and world-class identity database.
Leading figures in the FEP community, including Phillip M Adekunle, MD/CEO of Knowledge Square Ltd., and Pastor Vincent Emiowele, MD of Real Positive Friends, praised the commission for its decisive action in addressing the backlog and strengthening trust between NIMC and its partners.
