The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has received the prestigious Award of Excellence in Capacity Building and Staff Welfare from the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN).
The National Executive Council of ASCSN said the award recognized her outstanding leadership, marked by a strong commitment to staff development, improved welfare, and the steady transformation of NIMC. The honour came on the heels of her recent Innovation Service Delivery Award from the Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE), which applauded her remarkable reforms and impactful service delivery.
Since assuming office, Engr. Coker-Odusote has pursued an inclusive and transformational agenda that prioritises staff welfare, workplace improvement, and operational efficiency. Her leadership has resulted in the promotion of thousands of staff, the approval and implementation of a significant salary increment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and expanded access to career development through comprehensive training programmes, management retreats, and capacity-enhancing workshops.
She has strengthened the Commission’s operational capability by deploying thousands of digital systems to boost the National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment process and providing modern ICT tools to key departments. These efforts, aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, have positioned NIMC as a more efficient and globally competitive identity management institution.
Beyond infrastructure upgrades, the DG introduced several welfare initiatives, including free staff bus services, improved office facilities such as a new staff car park, and facilitated access to national food palliatives to cushion economic pressures. Her open-door policy and constructive engagement with labour unions have also enhanced workplace harmony, strengthened trust, and created an environment where staff feel valued and motivated.
The ASCSN described the award as a testament to her sincerity, responsiveness, and dedication to the well-being of workers, noting that her policies have significantly boosted productivity, improved working conditions, and deepened social dialogue within the Commission.
The honour, the union added, is both recognition of her achievements and an encouragement to sustain the momentum of positive reforms that continue to elevate public service standards in Nigeria.
