The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has underscored the critical role of collaboration between government institutions and emerging startups in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation.
This message was delivered at the Nigeria Satellite Week 2026, organised by the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NigComSat), under the theme, “Harnessing Space Technology for an Extraordinary Nigeria.”
Representing the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, the Director of Stakeholders Management and Partnership, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, delivered a keynote address titled “Enhancing Collaboration between Government Agencies and Emerging Startups.”
In his presentation, Dr. Onumo described synergy between public institutions and startups as the “secret sauce” for building a vibrant and globally competitive technology ecosystem. He noted that fostering seamless partnerships would help transform innovative ideas into scalable solutions with global impact.
He stressed that stronger collaboration would not only accelerate technological advancement but also enhance connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and support national development goals.
Reaffirming NITDA’s commitment to innovation, Dr. Onumo highlighted key initiatives such as the Nigeria Startup Act and the IdeaHatch programme, which are designed to support budding entrepreneurs and strengthen the country’s digital economy.
The event brought together key stakeholders across the space and technology sectors, providing a platform to explore how satellite and space technologies can be leveraged to drive sustainable development in Nigeria.
