The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has successfully trained a new cohort of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in essential digital skills, reinforced its commitment to a fully inclusive digital economy.
In collaboration with IFA and SIMBED, the initiative ensured that all Nigerians, regardless of ability, can actively participate in and benefit from the country’s growing technology sector.
Representing the Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, Mr. Oladejo Olawunmi, Director of Special Duties, emphasized that PwDs are not merely beneficiaries of charity but are vital contributors to Nigeria’s digital future. “When we provide the right tools, we don’t just create users; we create entrepreneurs and leaders,” he said.
The training aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes inclusivity in national development. “Equipped with accessible digital skills, Persons with Disabilities become innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders driving productivity across sectors,” Mr. Olawunmi added.
Congratulating the participants, he described them as “champions and ambassadors of digital inclusion,” urging them to apply their skills and share knowledge within their communities.
As these individuals return to their communities, they are expected to play pivotal roles in fostering innovation and expanding digital opportunities across Nigeria.
NITDA’s initiative underscored its vision of a tech economy where inclusivity is central to national development and opportunity.
