The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has made a strong impression at the Tech Revolution Africa 2026 conference through a high-level fireside chat that attracted innovators, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Representing the Director General, the Director of Stakeholder Management and Partnerships, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, led the session, offering key insights into Nigeria’s evolving digital agenda and the agency’s strategic priorities.
Speaking during the fireside chat titled “Building Nigeria’s Digital Journey: Policy, Infrastructure, and the Road Ahead,” Dr. Onumo outlined NITDA’s roadmap for accelerating national digital transformation. He emphasized the agency’s commitment to adaptive and innovation-friendly policies, the expansion of modern digital infrastructure to improve nationwide connectivity, and sustained investment in talent development to harness Nigeria’s youthful population.
He noted that NITDA remains focused on creating an enabling environment for digital growth by supporting startups, digital creators, and technology entrepreneurs. According to him, strategic partnerships at national, continental, and global levels are vital to advancing Nigeria’s digital ambitions.
Dr. Onumo further stressed that strong public-private collaboration is essential for building a sustainable and competitive digital ecosystem. He reaffirmed NITDA’s commitment to citizen empowerment, revealing the agency’s ambitious target of achieving 50 million digitally literate Nigerians by 2027.
He explained that the initiative is aimed at stimulating innovation, promoting digital inclusion, and strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global digital economy.
The session highlighted NITDA’s central role in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda and underscored the agency’s resolve to position the country as a leading digital hub in Africa.
