The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has engaged with NEC Corporation, one of Japan’s foremost technology multinationals renowned for advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in digital government, security, and sustainability.
At a high-level meeting with NEC senior executives, including Yosuke Koide, Director NEC West Africa; Carel Coetze, CEO; Miho Hara, International Development Aid; and Kentaro Maekawa, Senior Relations Department, discussions centered on accelerating AI adoption in Nigeria’s key sectors such as agriculture. The talks also focused on strengthening digital infrastructure, smart governance, and sustainable technology solutions.
The deliberations spotlighted Nigeria’s inclusive digital growth agenda under NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0), while showcasing the country’s comparative advantages and vast opportunities for global investors within its startup and innovation ecosystem.
NITDA also featured prominently at the JICA-led Project NINJA session during TICAD 9, where the Director General joined a distinguished panel alongside Satoshi Shimoda, Senior Writer, Nikkei, and Christopher Chijiutomi, Managing Director & Head of Africa, British International Investment.
The session explored the role of government and public–private partnerships in strengthening Africa’s startup ecosystem.
In his remarks, Abdullahi reaffirmed Nigeria’s position as the continent’s leading destination for innovation, investment, and strategic partnerships.
