The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global cybersecurity firm, Kaspersky, to strengthen Nigeria’s cyber resilience and protect its critical digital infrastructure.
The agreement was formalised at GITEX Nigeria 2025 in Lagos, with NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, and Kaspersky’s General Manager for Africa, Chris Norton, representing both organisations.
Through the partnership, Kaspersky will support NITDA in training programmes to build local cyber capacity, collaborate on public awareness campaigns including the Cybersecurity Alphabet initiative, and engage in joint research and analysis to improve cyber defence literacy nationwide.
The MoU also enabled intelligence sharing on threats targeting Nigerian citizens, government systems, and digital infrastructure. Kaspersky will further provide strategic advisory input to guide NITDA in developing frameworks and standards for safeguarding the nation’s information assets aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s priority of strengthening national security for peace and prosperity.
Speaking at the signing, Inuwa described the partnership as a milestone in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.
“This collaboration combines global expertise with our national drive to secure the country’s digital future,” he said.
