The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has received his counterpart at the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Charles Ebuebu, to explore strategic collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation and regulatory frameworks.
The meeting focused on deepening inter-agency cooperation to promote local media empowerment, enhance knowledge transfer, preserve cultural values, and establish efficient, forward-looking regulations in the country’s fast-evolving digital and technology landscape.
Speaking during the engagement, Inuwa emphasised that digital transformation is a continuous and evolving process rather than a one-time project. He stressed the importance of sustained improvement across three critical pillars: People, Processes, and Technology.
He highlighted NITDA’s achievements in driving cultural and mindset change, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, implementing Project NEXT, and strengthening preparedness for emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).
To further strengthen collaboration, the NITDA boss presented several proposals to the NBC team, including sharing NITDA’s digital transformation playbook, providing tailored training and capacity-building programmes, enrolling NBC staff in digital literacy initiatives in partnership with leading technology firms such as Cisco, and offering expert support in modernising regulatory frameworks.
According to Inuwa, these initiatives are aimed at aligning regulatory practices with global digital trends while ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of Nigeria’s media sector.
The Director General of NBC, Mr. Charles Ebuebu, welcomed the proposals and commended NITDA’s efforts in promoting digital innovation and institutional efficiency. He expressed the Commission’s readiness to collaborate in driving reforms that will strengthen broadcasting regulation in the digital era.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to sustained partnership and cooperation for the collective advancement of Nigeria’s media and technology sectors.
