The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) to promote research, digital literacy, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven solutions aimed at addressing national challenges.
The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa CCOE, made this known during a courtesy visit by NSUK management team led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, to NITDA’s corporate headquarters in Abuja.
Inuwa highlighted the importance of forging stronger ties between academics, technology experts, and entrepreneurs to address critical issues such as environmental sustainability, public health, and infrastructure through innovation.
“This collaboration aligns with NITDA’s vision of creating a robust technology research ecosystem, particularly in Digital Literacy, AI, and Research & Development, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Inuwa said.
To institutionalise the partnership, both organisations agreed to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive impactful initiatives and ensure sustainable collaboration.
Inuwa noted the transformative potential of AI beyond office automation, particularly in healthcare and agriculture, saying, “AI can bridge the gap in the healthcare system, especially in underserved communities where professional doctors are scarce.”
Speaking earlier, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman commended NITDA for its unwavering support in strengthening digital literacy and innovation at NSUK, adding that the partnership had positioned the university as a model institution for digital transformation.
“Our vision is to equip students with the digital skills needed to thrive in the global workforce, and this collaboration will play a pivotal role in achieving that goal,” she said.
The partnership is expected to accelerate technological innovation, empower students with future-ready skills, and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s digital economy and national development.
