In a bid to foster inclusive development and digital empowerment, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) have renewed their partnership to equip displaced persons and vulnerable youth across Nigeria with digital skills.
The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, received the Federal Commissioner of NCFRMI, Mr. Aliyu Tijani Ahmed, at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja to deepen collaboration aimed at expanding digital literacy and deploying Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools within displaced communities.
During the high-level engagement, both agencies explored strategic areas of cooperation, including the development of tailored training programmes and community-based ICT interventions to address the specific needs of refugees, migrants, and internally displaced persons.
Speaking at the meeting, Inuwa noted that this year’s intervention would be more targeted and impactful. He announced that a dedicated technical team would work closely with NCFRMI to co-create sustainable digital solutions.
“The goal is to ensure that no one is left behind in the digital economy. We are aligning this initiative with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises inclusive growth and human capital development,” he said.
In his remarks, Mr. Ahmed expressed optimism about the partnership, commending NITDA’s commitment to using technology as a tool for empowerment and resilience-building among displaced populations.
The renewed collaboration is expected to support digital transformation efforts within camps and host communities, as well as improve the capacity of NCFRMI staff through continuous digital upskilling.
