The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has celebrated the dedication of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members advancing digital literacy nationwide by presenting laptops and cash prizes to exceptional corps members.
The Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, visited the NYSC Headquarters to honor corps members who are taking essential digital skills to classrooms, markets, motor parks, and grassroots communities as part of the Digital Literacy for All (DL4All) Initiative.
Inuwa praised the corps members for going beyond their traditional service roles to become digital literacy champions, helping Nigerians use technology safely and responsibly while opening doors to economic opportunities.
“These young Nigerians are not just serving; they are driving the digital revolution, empowering their communities with skills that create opportunities and reduce digital risks,” he said.
The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, welcomed the NITDA delegation and underscored the expanding role of youth in national development, particularly their contribution to bridging Nigeria’s digital divide, noting that initiatives like DL4All strengthen both community engagement and digital inclusion.
As part of the visit, NITDA awarded laptops and cash prizes to select corps members who demonstrated exceptional commitment to grassroots digital literacy. Inuwa described the awards as an investment in youth leadership and capacity building, aimed at scaling up digital skills training nationwide.
He further emphasized that digitalization and inclusivity remain central to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic vision, with digital literacy forming the foundation for a diversified, innovative, and inclusive economy. Inuwa also reaffirmed NITDA’s commitment to continued collaboration with NYSC and other stakeholders to ensure every Nigerian regardless of age or location can meaningfully participate in the digital economy.
Through these efforts, NITDA positioned young Nigerians at the forefront of the country’s digital transformation, translating policy into tangible community impact.
