The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to partnering with the South South Development Commission (SSDC) to advance digital literacy, innovation, and economic growth across the region.
Inuwa gave the assurance while receiving the Managing Director of SSDC, Ms. Usoro Akpabio, on a courtesy visit to NITDA’s headquarters. He noted that the Commission’s objectives aligned closely with NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan, particularly in building digital skills and fostering talent development.
Highlighting the importance of digital literacy as the foundation of Nigeria’s digital economy, Inuwa recalled the Federal Government’s national target of achieving 95 per cent digital literacy by 2030, with an interim milestone of 70 per cent by 2027.
He emphasised that NITDA’s interventions span students, civil servants, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, and young Nigerians, stressed that technology is no longer a standalone sector but a critical enabler across all areas of the economy, including energy, agriculture, finance, security, and governance.
“Technology today cuts across every sector of national life. Strengthening cybersecurity, building trust in digital platforms, revitalising ICT infrastructure, and fostering innovation are essential to creating jobs and solving local challenges,” Inuwa said.
He assured the SSDC of NITDA’s full support, stressing that collaboration, coordination, and shared implementation frameworks are key to achieving inclusive and sustainable digital transformation.
“No institution can succeed in isolation,” he added, pledged that NITDA will work closely with the Commission to deliver people-centred digital development initiatives across the South South region.
