The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced that the first-ever meeting of the Startup Consultative Forum will take place on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Abuja.
The initiative mark a significant milestone in the government’s drive to deepen engagement with stakeholders in Nigeria’s dynamic startup ecosystem.
In a statement signed by Mrs. Hadiza Umar, Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations, the agency said the Forum is designed to provide a collaborative platform for startup founders, innovators, ecosystem enablers, and intermediaries to contribute meaningfully to national policy formulation and implementation.
“The Forum, convened under the Nigeria Startup Act (NSA), demonstrates our commitment to empowering startups as key contributors to digital transformation and economic growth,” Mrs. Umar stated.
A major highlight of the inaugural meeting will be the nomination and selection of representatives to the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Startup Council) the highest advisory body dedicated to guiding the development of Nigeria’s startup ecosystem.
The Council is expected to play a strategic role in driving inclusive policies, promoting access to funding, and supporting innovation-friendly regulations that will position Nigeria as a leading hub for digital entrepreneurship.
NITDA has extended invitations to all Labelled Startups, Verified Entrepreneurial and Innovation Support Organisations, Angel Investors, Venture Capitalists, and other critical players in the startup space to actively participate in the Forum. Stakeholders will also be involved in the nomination and voting processes for the Startup Council.
“This is a defining moment for Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. It’s not just about engagement it’s about empowerment and collaboration,” the statement added.
