In a significant move to enhance the well-being of residents, the NNPC Ltd/FIRST E & P Joint Venture (JV) successfully carried out a health outreach program across eleven KEFFESO communities in Bayelsa State from January 29 to February 1, 2025.
The initiative, a key component of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, aimed to address healthcare gaps and improve the quality of life for those living in host communities.
The health outreach, held in alignment with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, focused on providing critical health services to communities such as Koluama 1, Koluama 2, Ezetu 1, Ezetu 2, Foropa, Fish Town, Ekeni, Sangana, Opu Okumbiri, Okumbiribeleu, and Oginibiri. Thousands of local residents benefitted from the comprehensive program, which included free medical consultations, treatment, and health education.
Operating under Oil Mining Leases (OMLs) 83 (Anyala Field) and 85 (Madu Field) in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Guinea, NNPC Ltd/FIRST E & P JV has committed itself to making a lasting impact on the communities it served. The outreach reinforces the company’s pledge to foster sustainable development, providing essential healthcare services to mitigate local health challenges.
Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd,in a release emphasized the importance of this initiative, stated that it reflected the company’s ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of its host communities, ensuring they continue to thrive alongside the industry’s growth.
