The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has felicitated with Muslims across the country on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, calling on Nigerians to uphold the values of sacrifice, unity, and tolerance in their daily lives.
The message was conveyed in a statement by Paul Odenyi, Deputy Director, Communications and Media at the NOA, to mark the end of Ramadan. Issa-Onilu said the discipline, devotion, and selflessness demonstrated during the fasting period should not end with the celebration but be sustained as guiding principles in everyday interactions.
He stressed the importance of collective prayers, especially as Nigeria continue to grapple with security challenges, urging the Muslim faithful to seek divine intervention for enduring peace and national stability.
The NOA boss further appealed to citizens to embrace peaceful coexistence, regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences, noting that national unity remains vital in addressing the country’s current challenges.
Issa-Onilu also commiserated with families affected by recent bomb explosions in Borno State, praying for the repose of the deceased and strength for their loved ones to bear the loss.
Reaffirming government’s commitment to tackling insecurity, he assured Nigerians that ongoing efforts are yielding gradual progress, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and useful information.
He concluded by encouraging Muslims to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr in moderation and extend acts of kindness and generosity to the less privileged, in line with the teachings of Islam.
