The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has applauded the Kwara State Government for erecting West Africa’s tallest flagpole, describing the 70-meter-high structure as a bold symbol of national unity, cultural identity, and economic progress.
In a statement issued by the Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the agency emphasized the significance of the project, noted that the towering flag represented not only Nigeria’s sovereignty but also the shared spirit and unity of Kwara’s diverse communities.
“As the agency responsible for promoting national values and orientation, we commend the Kwara State Government for creating a landmark that highlights our nation’s rich cultural heritage while promoting social cohesion and economic development,” Onilu said.
He added that the flagpole’s impact goes beyond its physical stature, serving as a cultural beacon that inspires patriotism and reminds citizens of their collective identity and potential.
Onilu further noted the economic advantages of the project, pointing out that it is poised to boost tourism, attract investments, and position Kwara as a hub for cultural and economic engagement.
The NOA boss reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting Nigeria’s cultural values, saying, “Together, we can create a brighter future for our citizens and showcase the best of Nigeria’s heritage to the world.”
