The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially announced the commencement of its 2026 National Police Day celebrations, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”
The announcement followed a formal press briefing held on March 23, 2026, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, spoke on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
According to the NPF, the week-long celebration will commence on Monday, March 30, 2026, and culminate in a grand finale on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the iconic Eagle Square.
The Force said the theme underscored its renewed commitment to fostering closer collaboration with communities, improving transparency, and building sustainable trust as a cornerstone for effective policing nationwide.
To coordinate the activities, an organizing committee has been constituted, headed by Akoh Benedict Gabriel, with Force PRO DCP Placid serving as Secretary. The committee included senior officers drawn from key operational units such as the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Police Mobile Force (PMF), Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) unit, and Medical Services.

Activities lined up for the celebration include:
March 30 (Day 1): Nationwide environmental sanitation and free medical outreach targeting vulnerable populations.
March 31 (Day 2): National walkathon across state capitals to promote unity and strengthen police-community relations.
April 1 (Day 3): Public sensitization campaigns focusing on electoral violence prevention and road safety awareness.
April 2 (Day 4): Honouring fallen officers with presentation of cheques to their families at the Force Headquarters and state commands.
April 7 (Grand Finale): Ceremonial parade at Eagle Square, Abuja, featuring tactical displays by specialized units including PMF, K-9, EOD, and CTU.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to people-centered policing anchored on trust and mutual respect, while calling on community leaders, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to actively participate in the events.
