The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has mourned the death of its Edo State Commandant, Agun Gbenga, who passed away suddenly after collapsing at a public function in Benin City.
The late Commandant slumped shortly after delivering a goodwill message at an event organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Center. He was rushed to the Military Base Hospital in Benin, where doctors pronounced him dead.
In a condolence message, the Commandant General of NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, described Gbenga as an astute and iconic security expert who gave his best to the service of the nation.
“His dedication, humility in service, and intelligence earned him so much respect and admiration amongst his fellows,” Audi noted.
The Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, CSC Afolabi Babawale, in a statement said Gbenga’s death was a monumental loss to NSCDC and the nation at large.
The Corps extended its condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased, praying for strength to bear the irreparable loss.
