NUJ FCT Calls for Unity as FRCN Chapel Elects New Executives

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has urged members of the NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel to uphold unity, transparency, and professionalism as they usher in a new leadership.

The charge was delivered through the Council’s Treasurer, Comrade Sandra Chukwugekwu, during the chapel’s election held at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Headquarters in Abuja.

Chukwugekwu commended the outgoing executives led by Comrade Tersoo Zamber for upholding the core values of journalism, including integrity, professionalism, and unity. She described the election as a critical process in strengthening the union and reinforcing democratic principles.

She called on members to conduct themselves with fairness and sportsmanship, emphasizing that the outcome should reflect the collective will and shared aspirations of members.

The NUJ FCT Council also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting its chapels, particularly in initiatives aimed at improving members’ welfare and professional development. Chukwugekwu further encouraged active participation in union programmes, highlighting the upcoming NUJ FCT Council Easter Cantata scheduled for April 2, 2026.

At the end of the exercise, Comrade Daniel Adejo emerged as Chairman of the NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel. Other elected officials include Stephen Esabu as Vice Chairman, Hassan Hussain as Secretary, Samuel Adeyinka as Assistant Secretary, Sunday Igoche as Auditor, and Muzha Kucha as Financial Secretary.

In his acceptance speech, Adejo expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him, describing his emergence as a collective victory. He pledged to prioritize members’ welfare, uphold professionalism, and promote ethical journalism.

Adejo also assured members of transparent and inclusive leadership, stressing the need for journalists to remain credible and committed to truth, accuracy, fairness, and balance in a rapidly evolving media landscape.

The election mark a new phase for the NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel, with expectations of strengthened unity, improved welfare, and enhanced professional standards among members.
