Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has called on Nigerians to embrace the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent with unity, prayer, and selfless sacrifice.
In a statement, Ike described these periods of fasting, reflection, and spiritual renewal as opportunities to reinforce values of discipline, compassion, and love for humanity. She emphasized that they offered citizens a chance to strengthen moral resolve, deepen their faith, and recommit to peaceful coexistence and national development.
“At a time when our nation yearns for unity, stability, and progress, I urge all adherents to use this holy season to pray fervently for Nigeria, for our leaders, and for the continued peace and security of the Federal Capital Territory,” she said.
Highlighting the role of journalists in fostering national harmony, Ike reiterated that NUJ members remain committed to promoting truth, fairness, and responsible reporting that encourages mutual respect among Nigeria’s diverse communities.
She concluded by wishing all Muslim and Christian faithful a spiritually rewarding Ramadan and Lenten season, expressed hope that the prayers and sacrifices of this period would usher in renewed hope and greater prosperity for the nation.
