The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has received a major boost towards the completion of its Ultramodern Congress Hall project following the donation of 600 bags of cement by indigenous firm, Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited.
The donation was made during a brief handover ceremony in Abuja, where the company delivered the first tranche of 300 bags of cement under the supervision of Arc. Junias John Akaito and Kolade Oluwajuwon Olaoye. Stakeholders described the gesture as a significant milestone in the Council’s efforts to provide a befitting professional edifice for journalists in the nation’s capital.
Receiving the materials, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, commended the Chief Executive Officer of Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited, Dr Christian Olatunji, for identifying with the media community and supporting infrastructure development aimed at strengthening journalism practice and professional engagement.
Comrade Ike described the donation as timely and strategic, noting that the Ultramodern Congress Hall, when completed, would serve as a centre for professional training, welfare coordination, capacity building, and constructive engagement between journalists and key stakeholders.
“This gesture by Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited demonstrates confidence in the Nigerian media and the vital role journalists play in national development. The NUJ FCT Council remains committed to delivering a functional Congress Hall that will promote training, innovation, and the overall welfare of our members,” she said.
She assured the donor of transparency and accountability in the utilisation of the materials, reiterating the Council’s determination to complete a project that would stand the test of time and serve future generations of journalists in the Federal Capital Territory.
Representatives of Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited explained that the intervention by Dr Christian Olatunji was inspired by the critical role of the media in democratic consolidation and national development. According to the company, the donation aligns with its corporate social responsibility commitment to community development and institutional capacity building.
Members of the NUJ FCT Council present at the ceremony described the donation as exemplary and called on other corporate organisations, public-spirited individuals, and development partners to support the completion of the landmark project.
When completed, the NUJ FCT Ultramodern Congress Hall is expected to accommodate offices, training halls, and modern facilities that will significantly enhance journalism practice in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Council reiterated its appeal for sustained partnerships and goodwill support from government agencies and the private sector to ensure the timely completion of the project.
