NUJ FCT Council congratulates Yomi Odunuga on appointment as Media Adviser to SGF Akume

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has congratulated veteran journalist and columnist, Mr. Yomi Odunuga, on his recent appointment as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.

 

In a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Council Secretary, Jide Oyekunle, the union lauded Mr. Odunuga’s unwavering commitment to professionalism, integrity, and excellence in journalism, described his new role as a “well-deserved recognition of his outstanding contributions to the media and public discourse.”

 

“Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to journalistic integrity have always been exemplary, and this new role is a testament to your many years of selfless service in the media space,” the statement read.

 

The NUJ FCT Council expressed confidence that Odunuga’s wealth of experience and keen understanding of public communication would add immense value to national governance.

 

A widely respected media professional, poet, and columnist, Mr. Odunuga began his journalism career with PUNCH Newspapers over 27 years ago as the State House Correspondent. He rose to become the Group Political Editor in 2006. He later joined The Nation newspaper as Assistant Editor and Abuja Bureau Chief.

 

In 2019, he was appointed Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the then Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

 

The NUJ FCT Council urged Mr. Odunuga to continue upholding the tenets of transparency and accountability in his new position and wished him success in his service to the nation.
