The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has called for collaboration with Tayan Group Construction to boost affordable housing for journalists and fast-track the completion of its ultra-modern Congress Hall in Abuja.
The appeal came during a courtesy visit by NUJ FCT leadership to Tayan Group’s headquarters, where the company’s Managing Director, Akinjide Fagbemi, reaffirmed commitment to partnerships that drive inclusive development in the media sector.
Speaking during the visit, NUJ FCT Chairman, Ms. Grace Ike, representing over 1,500 journalists in the FCT, highlighted the union’s desire to partner with organizations aligned with social responsibility and development. She urged Tayan Group to support the Congress Hall project a modern center for media training, professional events, and journalists’ welfare and called for collaboration on affordable housing initiatives, including the proposed NUJ Journalists Village.
Fagbemi described the engagement as “long overdue” and emphasized that the media plays a critical role in the success of real estate developments. He noted that Tayan Group offered a wide range of housing and land solutions in Abuja, with prices starting from ₦600,000, and flexible payment plans spanning up to twenty years through financial institutions.
He assured that the partnership would create opportunities for transparency, development, and shared prosperity in the Federal Capital Territory.
