The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed has called on every staff of the Scheme to key into his administration’s policy thrust so as to reposition the Scheme for greater fortunes.
He stated this today in his address at the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Key Performance Indicators Workshop for NYSC Schedule Officers held in Abuja.
The workshop with the theme; “Enhancing KPIs Framework For Effective Programme Management, Research and Development”, was organized for the NYSC Schedule Officers from the 36 States/FCT, Area Offices and the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.
Ahmed, who was represented by the Director Human Management Resource Department, Hajiya Habiba Bappah commended the participants for their commitment to the development and successful implementation of the NYSC 5-year strategic master plan.
He said though the immense contributions of the Scheme in all aspects of national development are unquantifiable, the workshop would also provide the participants with the needed skills to function more efficiently and effectively.
“It will also enable us to develop a harmonized monitoring and implementation template for the Scheme in line with global best practices.
This will improve the participants’ skills for effective research, monitoring and evaluation as well as documentation of the Scheme’s activities”, he said.
In his welcome address, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka stated that the workshop will offer the participants with the requisite knowledge of the new performance management system in the public service to effectively evaluate the Scheme’s programmes.
He also canvassed proficiency in the use of ICT tools for improved performance in discharging official assignments.
