The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has advised Corps Members to avoid shortcuts in their quest for success, emphasized that hard work, patience, and perseverance are essential for achieving their ambitions.
He gave this advice while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream Two Corps Members at the NYSC Plateau State Temporary Orientation Camp in Doi-Du, Jos, and the Bauchi State Orientation Camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
Brigadier General Ahmed encouraged the Corps Members to take full advantage of the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which equipped them with vocational skills to become self-reliant and employers of labour. He also stressed the importance of post-camp entrepreneurship training, urging them to explore opportunities that would ensure financial independence.
The DG further reminded them of the primary objectives of the NYSC scheme, calling on Corps Members to foster national unity, integrate with their host communities, and contribute positively to their development.
In his camp situation report, the NYSC Plateau State Coordinator, Mr. Jonathan Yavala, disclosed that 1,957 Corps Members 982 males and 975 females were registered and had successfully adapted to camp life.
Similarly, the Bauchi State Coordinator, Mrs. Rifkatu Daniel, reported that 1,641 Corps Members, comprising 761 males and 880 females, had been registered in the state.
Both Coordinators assured the Director General that the Corps Members had shown remarkable patriotism, diligence, and commitment to the objectives of the Orientation Course.
