NYSC DG urges improved welfare package for Corps Members

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has called on Corps Employers across the country to improve the welfare packages of Corps Members serving in their organizations to enhance productivity and cushion the effects of the prevailing economic situation.

General Ahmed made the call when the Acting Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Nwakuche, paid him a courtesy visit at the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja.

He commended the Nigerian Correctional Service for its efforts in reforming inmates, noted that Corps Lawyers under the Legal Aids Community Development Service (CDS) group have been offering free legal services to inmates, which have led to the release of several inmates.

The Acting Controller General, while reflecting on his own service year in Kaduna, praised the NYSC’s deployment policy as a vital tool for fostering national unity and integration.

He sought further collaboration with the NYSC through the deployment of Corps Doctors, Psychologists, Lawyers, and other professionals to strengthen the Correctional Service’s manpower, a request the NYSC DG pledged to support.
