The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a pool of data privacy processing professionals in Nigeria, in collaboration with the Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, made this known when the National Commissioner/CEO of NDPC, Dr. Vincent Olatunji, paid him a courtesy visit at the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja.
Brigadier General Ahmed emphasized that the Scheme, as a data-compliant agency, would ensure effective partnership with NDPC to safeguard data privacy and combat identity theft. He further disclosed that a joint team from both agencies would be constituted to map out strategies for achieving the goals of the collaboration.
In his remarks, Dr. Olatunji stressed that the commission is committed to guaranteeing the data privacy of every Nigerian. He added that the partnership would leverage the vast network of Corps Members across the country to enhance data privacy awareness and protection.
He assured that NDPC would intensify efforts in deploying both technical and organizational measures to combat identity theft and ensure data protection.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen data security and promote a culture of privacy compliance among Nigerians.
