The National Youth Service Corps has reiterated its determination to review the existing collaboration with the National Health Insurance Scheme on the provision of free healthcare service for Corps Members.
The Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim stated this today while playing host to the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Prof. Mohammed Nasir Sambo in his office.
The synergy between the two establishments dated back to year 2017 when the Federal Government directed that all Corps Members must be enrolled in the NHIS.
The DG, who re-echoed the Scheme’s zero tolerance for night journey for Corps Members said there was a need for urgent attention towards the health needs of the Corps Members.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Prof, Mohammed Nasir Sambo commended General Ibrahim on his appointment as the 18th DG of NYSC.
He also lauded NYSC Management for its efforts in preventing unqualified graduates from participating in National Service and enlightenment on the dangers of service evasion.
The CEO of NHIS stated that the Scheme would deploy everything within its reach to ensure that Nigerians have access to qualitative healthcare.
He hinted that the NHIS would consolidate on its previous achievements and also device new strategies as it is reaching out to all organisations in the country to enrol for its services.
Sambo added that the NHIS was also making efforts on how Nigerians on foreign mission would be covered by its activities.
