Ogbomoso is more than a city; it is a gateway of movement and connection. By its very position, Ogbomoso stands as the entrance into the Southwest and the exit to the North. It is the doorway through which people, goods, and opportunities pass.
Every entrance to a house must be presentable. It is the first thing visitors see, the image that sets the tone for what lies inside. If this is true for a building, how much more for a city like Ogbomoso — the entrance to the Southwest and the exit to the North? Ogbomoso must reflect order, beauty, and readiness. It should be a city that welcomes with pride and sends forth with confidence.
But the question remains: why are we still behind?
The problem is not potential; Ogbomoso has the size, the people, and the history. The challenge is unity and shared vision. Development cannot thrive where leaders and communities are divided. If Ogbomoso is to fulfill its destiny as a true gateway, then traditional rulers, political leaders, entrepreneurs, and citizens must work together toward one goal.
This is the 21st century. Our king His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III is already making strides at the grassroots and international levels. But his efforts alone are not enough — the collective will of the people is what will transform Ogbomoso into a city of excellence.
Ogbomoso should not just be known as a passage; it should be celebrated as a destination. A place of tourism, commerce, peace, and innovation. A city that gives Nigerian a proud entrance from the Southwest to North and a confident exit from the North to the southwest.
The time to act is now. If the entrance to a house must be beautiful, then the entrance and exit of a city must shine. Ogbomoso must rise.
