The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, on Tuesday received H.E. Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO), at the NNPC Towers in Abuja, during a courtesy visit.
During the visit, Dr. Ibrahim shared APPO’s strategic vision focused on leveraging financing, technology, and market access to combat energy poverty and enhance energy accessibility across the African continent. He further elaborated on the Africa Energy Bank, an initiative of the organization that will be headquartered in Nigeria, aimed at providing sustainable funding for energy projects across member countries.
Dr. Ibrahim also extended a formal invitation to Mr. Ojulari to join the APPO Forum of Chief Executive Officers of African National Oil Companies, a platform for strategic collaboration and shared innovation.
In his remarks, the NNPC Ltd. GCEO commended APPO’s forward-looking initiatives, particularly the establishment of the Africa Energy Bank. He emphasized the bank’s critical role in bridging funding gaps in the energy sector, noting that it would help fast-track production targets and support long-term industry growth across the continent.
Ojulari reiterated NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to regional energy collaboration and expressed readiness to work closely with APPO in achieving the organization’s shared objectives.
The visit reinforced Nigeria’s central role in shaping Africa’s energy future and highlights the importance of regional cooperation in tackling energy challenges on the continent.
