The Bodija Estates and Environs Muslim Community (BEEMC) has inaugurated a new Executive Council to pilot the affairs of the association for the next administrative year, following its 32nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the BEEMC Central Mosque, Housing Estate, Ibadan.
At the well-attended AGM, former Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, emerged as Chairman of the Muslim Community, while Alhaji Taofeek Olayiwola, an APC chieftain in Ibadan North, was appointed Vice Chairman.Other members of the newly inaugurated Executive Council include Prof. K. K. Oloso as Chairman, Board of Religious Affairs (BORA); Mr. Aiki Afeez, General Secretary; Alhaji Kolawole Abdulazeez, Assistant General Secretary; Alhaji Ajani Ahmad, Property Manager; Alhaja Nurat Adekunle, Treasurer; Alhaja Aborode, Financial Secretary; Mr. Wahab Kamal Abiodun, Social Secretary; Mr. Akintunde Yusuf, Publicity Secretary; and Alhaja Balogun, Welfare Secretary.
Also appointed as Ex-Officio members are Alhaji M. A. Siyanbade, Alhaja B. A. K. Giwa, and Alhaja Fadhila Balogun.
Speaking at the inauguration, Chairman of the Shuura Electoral Committee, Alhaji Chief Gani Oladimeji, said members of the Executive Council were selected after a thorough screening process that considered professionalism, areas of competence, and capacity to deliver quality leadership. He urged the new leadership to remain committed to the core aims and objectives of BEEMC, particularly the promotion of Islam and the welfare of Muslims within Bodija Estates and its environs.
In his acceptance speech, Aare Olagunju thanked the Shuura Committee for what he described as a transparent and credible electoral process, and prayed for divine guidance to enable the council to faithfully uphold the principles and objectives of the association.
Founded in August 1992, the Bodija Estates and Environs Muslim Community was established to promote Islam as a religion and a complete way of life. Its objectives include the religious, moral, social, and spiritual advancement of Muslims, promotion of literacy and intellectual pursuits in Islamic studies, cooperation with other Muslim organisations, and fostering unity and brotherhood among the Ummah.
Over the years, BEEMC has remained committed to its founding ideals, growing into a key coordinating body for Muslim communities across Oyo State.
