One Police Officer killed, another injured as Mixer Truck crashes in Abuja …. FCT Command launches investigation

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the death of a police officer and the injury of another following a fatal road accident that occurred on Wednesday in Abuja.

 

The incident, which happened at about 2:20 p.m. along the Sani Abacha Expressway by the National Ecumenical Centre, involved a mixer truck said to have lost control before crashing into the officers who were on official duty.

 

According to a statement signed by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, preliminary investigations revealed that the truck was driven by one Salman Usman, an employee of a construction company located in Wuse Zone 5. The driver has since been arrested, while the vehicle and others involved in the crash have been impounded for further investigation and safety inspection.

 

The Command disclosed that the crash led to the immediate death of one officer, while the second officer sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.

 

Describing the incident as a painful reminder of the daily risks security personnel face while safeguarding residents, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, extended condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased officer. He also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

 

The Command assured the public of a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
