Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has said that only local government chairmen elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will support his administration to continue with its development strides.
Engineer Sule stated this during the grand finale of the APC campaign rally ahead of the October 6 local government elections, which held at the Lafia Square, on Tuesday.
The Governor called on the people to ensure they return all 13 council chairmen, as well as 147 councillors, in the coming election, as that will guarantee his administration of maximum support towards achieving its goals of bringing development to the state.
He emphasized that, if the people allowed the opposition take any of the local government areas, then the administration will suffer a setback, as members of the opposition may constitute a stumbling block to the development aspirations of his administration.
According to Engineer Sule, all the successes being recorded by President Muhammadu Buhari, was made possible through the support he enjoys from APC governors and Nigerians, stressing that, in Nasarawa State, the people must ensure that the ruling party clears the coming local government election.
He used the opportunity to appreciate the state interim chairman of the APC, Hon. John Mamman, as well as his team, for the successful conduct of party congresses and primaries, which produced the chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the party.
The governor equally appreciated the people of the state for their continued support, which paved the way for the successes being recorded by his administration, especially in the are of peace.
He advised youths to shun acts capable of inciting violence, as according to him, only God gives power to whom He wills and at the appointed time.
Engineer Sule also used the opportunity of the event, to appeal to opposion parties not to overheat the polity, warning that the October 6 local government elections, will be conducted transparently.
He however warned that, his administration will not condone acts capable of breaching the prevailing peace in the state.
The governor called on the electorates to turnout enmasse on election day, to vote the candidates of the APC.
In a speech, state interim chairman of the APC, Hon John Mamman, updated stakeholders on the campaign activities of the party, culminating into the grand finale at the Lafia Square.
The APC interim chairman said the party went through the local government areas, mopping up the remnants of juggernauts of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He reported the assurances from the people of the state, to vote for the APC in the coming council poll.
Hon. Mamman then presented before the governor, all the five chairmanship candidates of the party from the Nasarawa South senatorial district namely Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata, Lafia, Hon. Joshua Ozhe Yekpowudu, Obi, Hon. Ahmad Sarki Usman, Doma, Hon. Sanusi Danji Abdullahi, Keana and Hon. Dr. Usman Umar, Awe.
He also called on members, supporters and people of the state, to go out in their numbers on the election and to deliver all the candidates of the APC.
Various speakers at the event, assured the governor of victory at the October 6 local government elections.
Former governor and senator representing Nasarawa South, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura, represented at the event by Hon. Iliyasu Rayyanu, assured the governor of total victory at the October 6 local government elections.
Other speakers at the event include, Senator John Damboyi, DG Engineer A.A Sule Campaign Organisation during the 2019 general election, members Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmumini Ari and Hon. Sarki Dahiru, former national vice chairman of the party, Hon. Suleiman Wambai, former gubernatorial aspirant of the party during the 2019 general election, Hon. Hassan Liman (SAN) and Hajiya Halima Jabiru, former commissioner among others.
As part of the event, Engineer Sule presented the flags of the APC to the five chairmanship candidates of the party from the Nasarawa South senatorial district, urged them to ensure the total success of the party.
