Ooni of Ife mourns Doyin Okupe, describes him as a Patriotic Statesman

The Ooni of Ife, Arole Oduduwa, Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Doyin Okupe, described his demise as a profound loss to Ogun State, the Oduduwa race, and Nigeria as a whole.

In a statement signed by the Director of Media & Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, the Ooni eulogized Dr. Okupe as an illustrious son of Oduduwa who dedicated his life to national development, democracy, and good governance.

“The sudden passing of Dr. Okupe is a rude shock. He was a man of great intellect, unwavering patriotism, and remarkable contributions to national development. His voice resonated with courage, wisdom, and a firm commitment to the ideals of democracy,” the statement read.

The monarch further noted that Dr. Okupe played pivotal roles in shaping Nigeria’s political discourse and public service, leaving behind a legacy of diligence, resilience, and progressive leadership.

While commiserating with the Okupe family, the Ogun State government, and the entire Oduduwa descendants globally, the Ooni affirmed that his impact would continue to inspire generations.

“As we bid him farewell, we pray that Almighty Olodumare grants his soul eternal rest and comforts his loved ones during this difficult time,” the Ooni prayed.

Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former presidential spokesperson and seasoned politician, passed away recently, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in Nigeria’s political landscape.
