THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF OYO STATE.
ON THE STATE OF THE EDUCATION IN OYO.
Your Excellency,
I Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade of the Muslim Rights Concern Oyo State Chapter writing to express my deep concern about the current state of Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK) education in public missionary schools in Oyo State. As a concerned citizen and advocate for quality education, I am compelled to bring this issue to your attention.
The teaching of IRK is an essential part of the educational curriculum for Muslim students, providing them with a deep understanding of Islamic values and principles. However, I have been made aware that the teaching of IRK has been neglected in public missionary schools in Oyo State.
Your Excellency, I strongly believe that the revival of IRK education in public missionary schools is crucial for the academic, moral, and spiritual development of Muslim students. It is also essential for promoting religious tolerance, understanding, and social cohesion in our society.
Furthermore, the Nigerian Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of religion, and the teaching of IRK is an essential part of this right. By reviving IRK education, we can ensure that Muslim students are able to exercise their constitutional right to freedom of religion.
The goal of keeping religious studies is to save us from a society where all forms of ungodliness is the order of the day.
I respectfully urge you to take immediate action to revive the teaching of IRK in public missionary schools in Oyo State. This can be achieved by:
1. Providing adequate funding and resources for IRK education.
2. Ensuring that qualified IRK teachers are employed and trained.
3. Reviewing and updating the IRK curriculum to ensure it is relevant and effective.
Your Excellency, I believe that by taking these steps, we can ensure that Muslim students in Oyo State receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in all aspects of life.
