Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), Joint Task Force North West, have sustained aggressive and coordinated military operations against terrorist elements across the region, recording significant operational gains between 21 and 22 January 2026.
In one of the key engagements, troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, supported by assets of the Department of State Services (DSS), conducted a fighting patrol to Gundumi Village in Isa Local Government Area. During the encounter, one terrorist was neutralised, while several others escaped into the surrounding forest with gunshot injuries. The troops recovered six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles from the scene.
In a follow-up operation, troops of 1 Brigade, in collaboration with the Headquarters JTF OPFY Mobile Strike Team, acted swiftly on credible intelligence indicating that wounded terrorists were receiving treatment within the Bingi Forest. The troops successfully located and destroyed a makeshift medical facility used by the terrorists, delivered a major blow to their logistics and support infrastructure.
The latest successes highlighted the sustained determination, operational responsiveness and combat effectiveness of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in degrading terrorist networks.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining relentless pressure on criminal elements until lasting peace and security are fully restored across the North West region.
