The Armed Forces of Nigeria have continued their intensified operations against terrorists, bandits, and oil thieves across various regions, recording significant breakthroughs during the week ending 20 June 2025.
Disclosing this in Abuja, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, said troops sustained pressure on criminal elements through kinetic and non-kinetic operations in the North East, North West, North Central, South South, and South East, resulting in the recovery of large quantities of weapons, dismantling of criminal networks, rescue of kidnapped victims, and the surrender of terrorists.
In the Niger Delta, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE destroyed 16 illegal refining sites and recovered over 221,000 litres of stolen crude oil, 28,495 litres of illegally refined diesel, and 3,140 litres of petrol, with an estimated worth of ₦250,425,833.00. Also recovered were 46 cooking ovens, 44 storage tanks, 23 boats, and 52 drums. Troops arrested 27 suspects, confiscated pumping machines, drilling equipment, tricycles, motorcycles, and 21 vehicles used for illegal operations.
In Borno State, under Operation HADIN KAI, several Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters surrendered with their families as troops launched offensives in Kukawa, Konduga, Gwoza, Ngala, and Bama. Troops eliminated numerous terrorists, rescued kidnapped victims, and recovered weapons, IEDs, motorcycles, and food supplies. Seven terrorist collaborators were arrested in Gwoza, Biu, and Ngala, while further operations led to the recovery of arms and destruction of terrorist camps.
In Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara States, Operation FASAN YAMMA troops conducted aggressive patrols. Dozens of terrorists surrendered and released 19 captives in Danmusa LGA. Offensive operations in Zamfara and Sokoto led to the neutralization of armed elements and the arrest of collaborators. Several weapons and motorcycles were also seized.
Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN in Plateau and Kaduna states carried out clearance operations that resulted in the rescue of kidnapped victims and the arrest of high-profile suspects, including a notorious kidnapper identified as Muhammed Isah. Simultaneously, Operation WHIRL STROKE troops disrupted extremist activity in Benue, Taraba, and Nasarawa States, recovering arms and arresting six criminals.
In the South East, Operation UDO KA troops made contact with armed extremists in Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu States. Five extremists were neutralized, and others arrested. Weapons and vehicles were recovered, and anti-kidnapping operations led to the apprehension of more suspects.
Major General Kangye commended the troops for their courage and reiterated the military’s resolve to safeguard the nation.
“The cooperation and support of citizens are essential to achieving peace and stability. We urge Nigerians to remain vigilant and support our forces through credible information,” he stated.
He assured that the Armed Forces would continue to maintain transparency and accountability in its engagements while upholding the highest standards of professionalism in service to the nation.
