The Oyo State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and apprehended a suspect linked to a series of coordinated attacks in Otefon and Amalu villages.
According to a statement signed by DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the operation followed reports that “armed hoodlums numbering about eight invaded Otefon Village in the early hours of the day.” During the attack, one Taiwo John, also known as “Ogo Oluwa,” aged 40, was abducted. The assailants also seized an undisclosed sum of money belonging to the victim’s wives and his mobile phone.
While responding to the Otefon incident, authorities received another report from Ikoyi-Ile Division that the same criminal syndicate had extended its operations to Amalu Village via Ahorọ Dada, abducting Usman Amadu.
The Command immediately activated its anti-kidnapping response, deploying tactical teams across the affected areas. Through intelligence-led surveillance and coordinated operations, security operatives rescued one of the kidnapped victims unharmed and arrested Ibrahim Sani ‘M’ in connection with the crimes. The suspect has confessed and is assisting ongoing investigations to dismantle the criminal network.
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna assured residents that the Command remained proactive in confronting criminal threats, urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support law enforcement efforts.
