Participants of the 55th Pakistan Navy Staff Course, on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, paid a study visit to the Headquarters Western Naval Command, Apapa, Lagos, as part of efforts to strengthen professional ties and maritime cooperation with the Nigerian Navy.
The delegation was led by Commodore Mohammed Zahid Zaheer and accompanied by the Pakistan Defence Attaché, Colonel Kamran Mushtaq. They were received by senior officers of the Command and introduced to the operational framework of the Nigerian Navy in the western maritime domain.
During the visit, the participants were briefed on the mandate, responsibilities, and operations of the Western Naval Command, with emphasis on maritime security, anti-piracy efforts, and inter-agency collaboration. The delegation also undertook guided tours of the Falcon Eye and Regional Maritime Awareness Capability Centres, as well as Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) KADA.
The tours provided insight into Nigeria’s maritime domain awareness architecture and surveillance capabilities, highlighting the shared commitment of both navies to safeguarding regional and international waters.
In his remarks, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, described the visit as a valuable platform for professional exchange and mutual learning. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with friendly navies in the pursuit of maritime security and stability.
The study visit further underscored the growing defence and naval relations between Nigeria and Pakistan, aimed at promoting regional security and capacity development.
