The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved a fresh 13-member Caretaker Committee for Ebonyi State, appointing Barr. Ekuma E. Emmanuel as Chairman and veteran journalist Hon. Moses Idika as Secretary.
The appointments were disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the PDP National Organising Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature.
Other members of the committee included Chief Christopher E. Ngwuta, Hon. Nnanna E. Oji, Chief Godwin O. Nwode, Barr. Ugochukwu Obasi, Engr. Odanwu E. Ifeanyi, Barr. Lawson Chukwu, Chief Matthew Nkwegu, Igboke Chukwuma, Mr. Adiele A. Okoro, Hon. Muhammad I. Oken, and Mr. Augustine Ezike.
Bature stated that the committee’s mandate take effect from November 26, 2025, and it is tasked with running the affairs of the party in Ebonyi State in accordance with Section 21(2)(a–b) of the PDP Constitution, for a period not exceeding 30 days.
Ebonyi PDP has been without a substantive leadership since the Federal High Court nullified the former state executive nearly two years ago. Several attempts by the NWC to conduct a new state congress were unsuccessful due to logistical and political constraints.
The newly constituted committee is expected to restore structure and prepare the grounds for fresh congresses in the state.
