A prominent Niger Deltan and philanthropist, Mr. Peter Dunia, popularly known as Peter Black, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law the 2025 Act establishing the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU) in Okerenkoko, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a statement titled “Thank You, Mr. President, and Kudos to the GOC,” released on Friday, Dunia described President Tinubu as a visionary leader whose decision marks a turning point for the full commencement of the university.
Expressing his joy at witnessing this historic achievement, Dunia lauded the administration’s commitment to the development of the Niger Delta. He emphasized that NMU would not only foster academic excellence and research but also drive socio-economic growth in the region.
He further commended High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), for his instrumental role in ensuring the institution’s success. Dunia acknowledged Tompolo’s contributions, particularly in providing the initial infrastructure necessary for NMU’s takeoff, describing him as a beacon of hope for the Niger Delta.
According to him, the legal backing for the university is a milestone that will serve as a rallying point for the region, reinforcing good governance and inclusiveness.
Dunia pledged his continued support for the Tinubu administration and prayed for divine guidance and protection for both President Tinubu and Tompolo as they work toward the progress of the Niger Delta.
