Police operatives attached to Niger Police Command on 30th January,2024 at about 2100hrs, received information at Bosso Div that, on the same date at about 1800hrs, one Adamu Danga Rijau aged 62yrs of Bosso Lowcost area of Minna was sighted around Numui cemetery without trousers, on top of a minor girl of about 6yrs of age, while the suspect took to his heels from the spot.
However, before the Police Division could mobilize to the scene, it was reported that an alarm was raised by the witness. Consequently, the suspect was pursued and arrested by the mob. He was immediately taken to Bosso Division where a preliminary investigation was conducted and the case was transferred to SCID Minna.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having lured the victim to the cemetery area, when she was sent on an errand by her mother. He confessed further that he defiled the minor girl due to intoxication.
He claimed that he drank some quantity of palm wine that he bought on his way home from the farm, and that he was under the influence of the palm wine before committing the act.
Meanwhile, the victim was taken to the Police clinic for a medical examination, as the case is under investigation and the suspect will be arraigned in court for prosecution immediately after the conclusion of investigation processes.
Also on 19th January,2024 at about 1300hrs, information was received from Kudu Police outstation, Mokwa Div that on 18th January,2024 at about 2100hrs, a motorcyclist conveyed one Usman Maniya aged 22yrs of Gbete village and before getting to their destination, the said Usman attacked the rider with a cutlass, severed the rider right’s hand and took the unregistered Bajaj motorcycle valued about seven hundred thousand naira away.
The suspect was arrested by the Police operatives of Kudu outstation, Mokwa Division based on the information received from the community. The exhibits of the cutlass and the motorcycle were recovered from the suspect. The victim was taken to General Hospital Mokwa and he is said to be responding to treatment.
The suspect has been charged to court for prosecution.
Meanwhile, Police patrol team attached to Mokwa Divvision on 2nd February,2024 at about 1620hrs,based on information received,intercepted and arrested one Sani Suleiman 41yrs of Gufanti village, Borgu LGA at Gada-Ndayako along Kainji road.
The suspect was arrested in possession of two bags of suspected Indian hemp, and during interrogation, he claimed that the two bags were given to him from Ibadan by a friend, to deliver to someone Musa at Gufanti, Borgu LGA.
The suspect will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation.
