In a decisive effort to tackle rising criminal activities in Minna metropolis, the Niger State Police Command has arrested seven individuals involved in various criminal acts, including possession of weapons and illicit substances.
On 16th January 2025, around 6 pm, officers from the Kpakungu Division apprehended a suspect, Yusuf Yahaya, 19, from Fadikpe, found carrying a long sharp cutlass. This arrest followed ongoing operations targeting thuggery and other vices within the city.
The previous day, 15th January 2025, at about 12:50 am, the Minna Area Command arrested two suspects, Nura Adamu, 26, and Bashir Aliyu, 22, both residents of the New-Market area. They were found with a sharp knife, cannabis, shisha apparatus, lighters, and other illicit drugs.
Later that same day, around 6:30 pm, Bosso Division operatives arrested four individuals – Isah Suleiman, Auwal Mohammed, John Nmadu, and Ibrahim Yusuf – in the Tudun-Fulani area of Bosso. The suspects were in possession of various illicit drugs and intoxicants.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP W. A. Abiodun assured the public that the Command is committed to ensuring the safety of residents by ridding the metropolis of individuals who threaten peace through criminal activities fueled by hard drugs and illicit substances.
“The Police Command has put robust strategies in place to curtail these menaces and ensure that those disturbing the peace of Minna will be apprehended and dealt with accordingly,” Abiodun stated.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police by reporting suspicious activities to help maintain law and order in the community.
