The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Miller G. Dantawaye, today Saturday undertook an extensive monitoring tour of polling units across the Area Councils of Abuja to assess security deployment and ensure a peaceful electoral process.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the inspection conducted on February 21, 2026, covered several locations, with particular focus on remote and border communities, including Igu Village in Bwari Area Council, Yangoji in Kwali Area Council, Giri in Gwagwalada Area Council, as well as polling units in Kuje and Abaji Area Councils.
During the tour, the police commissioner interacted with voters and key stakeholders to evaluate the conduct of security personnel and the overall security situation at polling centres. The electorate reportedly expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements, commending the professionalism, civility, and vigilance displayed by police officers and other security operatives deployed for election duties.
Dantawaye also appreciated residents and voters for their cooperation, noting that their orderly conduct contributed significantly to the peaceful atmosphere observed across the Area Councils.
The Command further disclosed that it is closely monitoring the collation process to ensure the peaceful declaration of election results, reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the credibility and integrity of the electoral process.
