A Nigerian-American entrepreneur and financial expert, Ambassador Ismaila Yusuf, has said that strong private-sector leadership and youth-driven innovation will play a decisive role in Nigeria’s economic recovery despite prevailing economic and social challenges.
Yusuf, who is the Director-General of the Atum Humanitarian Anti-Corruption and Charitable Initiative (AHACCI), stated this in a message to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
Reflecting on the past year, he noted that Nigerians had faced economic strain and social uncertainty but demonstrated resilience by adapting to difficult circumstances and developing new approaches to survive and grow.
“The year behind us came with its share of economic pressures and social challenges, but it also reminded the world of one enduring truth: Nigerians are resilient, resourceful and forward-looking,” he said.
Yusuf expressed confidence in Nigeria’s long-term economic potential, stressing that innovation, sound policies and inclusive economic reforms could accelerate the country’s recovery.
“As a Nigerian-American entrepreneur and a financial and economic expert, I remain confident in Nigeria’s potential to rise stronger,” he said.
According to him, the private sector has a critical role to play in bridging gaps in financial access, digital infrastructure and investment opportunities, especially for young people and small businesses.
He added that through the Atum Humanitarian Anti-Corruption and Charitable Initiative, efforts are ongoing to promote financial inclusion, digital innovation and cross-border economic opportunities.
Yusuf also urged Nigerian youths to prioritise skills acquisition and innovation, noting that both are essential for personal advancement and national development.
“I encourage Nigerians, particularly the youth, to invest in skills, embrace innovation and remain focused on progress,” he said.
While acknowledging ongoing challenges, Yusuf expressed cautious optimism about the country’s prospects, calling for economic stability, peace and social cohesion.
“As we move into the new season, my wish is for greater economic stability, peace and prosperity for Nigeria,” he added.
